EXHIBITION DATES :

April  25th - June 8th, 2024

Cosmic Bond featuring the works of artists Mille Kalsmose and Yukai Hotta, encapsulates the profound interconnectedness between humanity and the universe, through a compelling display of installation works and ceramic creations. In essence, it speaks to the idea that we are not separate entities existing in isolation, but rather integral parts of a vast cosmic tapestry. Our actions, thoughts, and emotions ripple through the universe, forming intricate bonds that connect us to each other and the cosmos at large. From the air we breathe to the stars that twinkle in the night sky, every aspect of our existence is intertwined with the greater cosmic order. By exploring humanity's relationship with the universe through art, the exhibition invites us to reflect on our place in the cosmos and the profound impact we have on the world around us. It serves as a reminder of the beauty and complexity of existence, urging us to cherish the cosmic bonds that unite us all.

Mille Kalsmose's diverse body of work invites viewers to contemplate the profound interconnectedness of human existence across multiple dimensions. In "Cosmic Relations," a compelling sound installation, Kalsmose merges meteorites, silk, iron, and found wood with NASA's recordings of Saturn's rings, offering an immersive experience that explores personal identity and familial bonds within the vastness of the cosmos. Through anthropomorphic figures and celestial motifs, Kalsmose evokes ancient cosmological themes, prompting reflection on humanity's place in the universe's intricate tapestry. "Golden Blindness" invites tactile engagement, as braille on paper with delicate gold leaf reveals the transformative power of touch in understanding the essence of being. With "Collected Memories," Kalsmose weaves a narrative of personal and collective memory through hand-dyed rice papers, fostering global connectivity and challenging conventional notions of reality.

Presented in collaboration with VERSO - Yukari Hotta's "BIOTOPE" further amplifies the exhibition's theme, emphasizing the interconnectedness of all living things. Crafted from handshaped clay and natural dyes, Hotta's pieces embody the concept of "⽣き物" (Ikimono) - living things in Japanese culture. Ranging from humans to animals, insects, plants, and plankton, Hotta's creations reflect a deep reverence for life and its diverse manifestations. Through biomorphic forms and symbolic breathing apertures, Hotta challenges viewers to reconsider their relationship with themselves, each other, and the natural world, fostering a sense of familial unity among her sculptures.
