Join us in the gallery for a book discussion about Lili Almog’s latest photography book, Betweenness. The event will feature the artist, Lili Almog, in conversation with Jean Dykstra, the esteemed editor of photograph magazine and author of the foreword for Betweenness. The talk will follow a performance art piece, directed by Lili Almog and performed by Lizzy Fernandez. The evening will kick off with the performance at 5:30 and the talk will begin at 6.
Conversation and performance will delve into the making of and inspirations for the book. Topics range from politically charged images in photography to the role of image making in modern faith. The book serves as a visual narrative of the artist’s own struggle with spirituality and invites viewers to reflect on the complex relationship between faith, personal expression, and social perceptions. The performance incorporates movements and choreography from a sensual dance discipline to tell a story that subverts the expectation of extroverted femininity. Betweenness was published by Kehrer Verlag and more information about the book can be found on our website.
